Small Town Famous
This is a fun, humorous, and ultra-modern country-trap song designed to be a viral line dance hit. Titled "Small Town Famous," the song is a witty take on the life of a minor social media influencer in a tiny rural town, comically contrasting his online fame with his everyday reality. With an infectious blend of a looping banjo riff and a hard-hitting trap beat, it's a catchy, self-aware anthem for the digital age with a built-in signature dance move.
[Intro] (A classic, looping banjo riff begins. After two bars, a heavy 808 bass drop and rapid-fire trap hi-hats kick in. A phone notification 'ping' sound effect is heard.) Y'all ready for this? Let's go! [Verse 1] (Vocals are a modern country rap flow.) Got a million views last Tuesday on a clip of my old dog Yeah, the whole world knows my name if you just read the comment log Got 'em duettin' in Japan, got 'em stitchin' in the UK Got that little blue check mark, man, what more can I even say? Livin' lavish, lookin' fly, yeah, that's my online brand The biggest thing to hit this town since they put the new stop sign in. [Pre-Chorus] But the Wi-Fi's kinda spotty out here by the county line And my mom just hollered at me, "Hey! It's your turn to hang the laundry on the line!" [Chorus] (The beat gets bigger. The vocals shift to a big, sung, pop-country melody.) Yeah, I'm Small Town Famous, a king in my zip code! A big shot at the Stop-N-Go, the best you've ever knowed! So let me see you do the dance that's sweepin' 'cross the land! Just scroll, scroll, scroll, then strike a pose, and show 'em you're in the band! Yeah, I'm Small Town Famous, ain't it grand? [Verse 2] (Back to the country rap flow.) Online I'm poppin' bottles in a rented limousine In real life I'm shotgunnin' a cold one from the Dairy Queen Got a filter that can make me look like I'm in paradise While Brenda at the diner's askin' if I want more sweet tea with that ice Yeah, I'm an icon, I'm a legend, I'm a digital sensation At least between the city limits of my little population. [Pre-Chorus] But my debit card got declined for a tank of premium gas And my high school football coach just reminded me I never caught a pass! [Chorus] (The big, sung, pop-country melody returns.) Yeah, I'm Small Town Famous, a king in my zip code! [Instrumental Break] (The banjo loop and the 808 beat go hard for 8 bars. Ad-libs are scattered throughout: "Hashtag blessed!" "Link in bio!" "Don't forget to subscribe!") [Bridge] It's a crazy kind of livin', this surreal and double-sided dream But I wouldn't trade this little town for all the views on my damn screen 'Cause when the views all fade away and the trend is dead and gone My mom's still gonna love me, and this town will still be home. [Chorus] (The final chorus, with extra energy and ad-libs.) Yeah, I'm Small Town Famous, a king in my zip code! (King of the county!) A big shot at the Stop-N-Go, the best you've ever knowed! So let me see you do the dance that's sweepin' 'cross the land! Just scroll, scroll, scroll, then strike a pose, and show 'em you're in the band! Yeah, I'm Small Town Famous, ain't it grand? [Outro] (The beat and banjo loop fade out. Ad-libs over the top.) Yeah! Small Town Famous... population: me. Alright y'all, that's a wrap. Don't forget to smash that like button. Mom! I'm comin'!

Training & Teaching Guide
Step Breakdown for Beginners
Grapevine (or Vine): A three-step pattern moving sideways, e.g., "side, behind, side."
Rock & Recover: Shifting weight onto one foot (the rock) and then back to the other (the recover).
Scuff: Sweeping the heel of one foot forward against the floor.
The Scroll & Pose: This is the signature move. Dancers mime scrolling on a phone with their thumb three times, then on the next beat, they hit a confident, fun pose of their choice.
Teaching Tips
The key to this dance is swagger and attitude. Encourage dancers to be confident and have fun, especially on the rap verses and the "Scroll & Pose" at the end. The pose can be personalized, which makes it more fun for everyone on the floor.
For the "Scroll & Pose" (counts 25-32), count it out loud with the words: "Scroll, Scroll, Scroll, POSE, Hold, And, Stomp, Stomp." This helps with the timing and emphasizes the fun hook.
The restart is easy to hear. The instrumental break ends, and the music softens for the bridge. Dancers will feel the change, which is the cue to restart the dance for the final build-up.
Practice Flow
Drill the signature "Scroll & Pose" section (counts 25-32) first. It's the most important part and the most fun. Once the class has this down, they'll be excited to learn the rest.
Teach the dance in two 16-count halves. The first 16 counts travel and have classic line dance steps. The second 16 counts are more stationary with the rock steps and the signature hook.
Practice the full 32 counts, then walk through the restart. Once dancers understand they just do the first half of the dance during the instrumental, it will click easily.
