Biscuits & Gravy Groove
This is a simple, fun, and infectious country line dance track designed to be an instant honky-tonk classic. Titled "Biscuits & Gravy Groove," the song is a joyful and straightforward celebration of a beloved Southern comfort food. With a sound that blends classic honky-tonk piano and guitar with a heavy, modern beat, it's an easy-to-love anthem with a signature "Butter Roll" dance move that's perfect for dancers of all levels.
[Intro] (four-on-the-floor drum machine beat and a twangy telecaster guitar riff. A fiddle slide. "Yee-haw!") [Verse 1] Sun is creepin' through the blinds, it's a beautiful Saturday Got no work and got no worries, gonna chase the blues away I can smell the coffee brewin', hear the bacon in the pan But there's only one thing on my mind, you know I got a master plan. [Pre-Chorus] Don't need no fancy pastry, no avocado toast 'Cause there's one thing in this Southern land that I love the very most! (What's that now?) [Chorus] Give me that Biscuits & Gravy Groove! (Woo!) The kind of song that makes your cowboy boots just wanna move! Come on now, do the Butter Roll, and add a little shake! Ain't nothin' better than the food my grandma used to make! Yeah, that Biscuits & Gravy Groove! [Verse 2] A fluffy buttermilk biscuit, you split it right in two Smother it in sausage gravy, yeah, that's all you gotta do Got a little bit of black pepper, a side of scrambled eggs This is the kind of goodness that'll put the power in your legs! [Pre-Chorus] Don't need no eggs benedict, no fancy city brunch! Just give me a heaping plateful of that good old country crunch! (Here we go!) [Chorus] Give me that Biscuits & Gravy Groove! (Yee-haw!) The kind of song that makes your cowboy boots just wanna move! Come on now, do the Butter Roll, and add a little shake! Ain't nothin' better than the food my grandma used to make! Yeah, that Biscuits & Gravy Groove! [Instrumental Break] (A fun, upbeat instrumental section. The honky-tonk piano and the twangy telecaster guitar trade quick, happy, simple solos over the heavy, driving beat.) [Bridge] (Call and response section) Are you feelin' hungry? (Oh yeah!) Are you feelin' good? (Oh yeah!) Then everybody on the floor now, just like I knew you would! And do that dance! [Chorus] Give me that Biscuits & Gravy Groove! (Let's go!) The kind of song that makes your cowboy boots just wanna move! Come on now, do the Butter Roll, and add a little shake! Ain't nothin' better than the food my grandma used to make! Yeah, that Biscuits & Gravy Groove! [Outro] (The band vamps on the main groove. Singer ad-libs.) Mmm, mmm, that's good stuff! One more time, do the Butter Roll now! Pass the hot sauce! (loud "YEE-HAW!")

Teaching Tips
This dance is all about fun and simplicity. Encourage dancers to smile, sing along, and add their own personality to the hip shakes and claps. There's no wrong way to feel good!
The "Butter Roll" is the key move. Teach it with the lyric "Come on now, do the Butter Roll." It's a visual cue that's easy for beginners to remember and connects them directly to the song.
Since the routine is a simple 32-count loop, it will not always line up perfectly with every section of the song, and that is intentional. The goal is continuous, easy, joyful movement that can be done from the first verse to the final "Yee-haw!"
Practice Flow
Teach the "Butter Roll" and "Hip Shakes" (Counts 25-32) first. It's the fun payoff and the easiest part.
Teach the Grapevines (Counts 9-16) next, as this is a fundamental line dance step.
Teach the Walk Forward/Backward and Step-Touches last.
Combine all four 8-count sections and practice to the music. The simple, repetitive nature of the dance means it can be learned in just a few minutes.
Choreographer's Notes
